It goes without saying that we live in a toxic world.
Everyone is impacted by heavy metal toxicity in their body to some degree, as well as nutrient mineral imbalances and deficiencies.
Consider a few of the findings
We are exposed to 6 million pounds of mercury and 2.5 billion pounds of other toxic chemicals each year (source). According to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, upwards of 100,000 synthetic chemicals are registered for use in the United States alone.
And each year, an estimated 2,000 new chemicals are introduced for use in everyday items—foods, personal care products, prescription drugs, household cleaners, lawn care products, etc. We do not know all the detrimental effects of these toxic chemicals have on our bodies, because no one has even attempted to take on such a monumental study of the interactive effects of these synthetic chemicals.
What we do know is the impact is significant. According to Environmental Working Group, the average newborn baby already has 287 known toxins in his or her umbilical cord blood.
In other words, we are all exposed to toxic chemicals day in and day out, everywhere we go.
Some of the most common symptoms and conditions related to mineral imbalances and heavy metal toxicities are:
- low energy, fatigue, exhaustion
- anxiety, panic attacks, mood swings
- feeling "wired and tired", mind racing all the time
- loss of sex drive
- weight gain
- brain fog, forgetfulness, blanking
- emotional numbness, apathy, depression, withdrawal
- cravings (chocolate, caffeine, sugar, starchy foods, etc.)
- allergies, mold sensitivity, odor sensitivity
- insomnia, sleep disturbances
- hyperactivity, neurological disorders
- weight gain (despite eating well)
- yeast/candida, fungus infections
- digestive disorders, constipation, diarrhea, IBS
- and much, much more…
Why taking an HTMA test is important
HTMA isn’t a medical test, meaning that it isn’t used to diagnose disease. Rather, it is one of the best screening and preventive health tools available to find out what nutrient minerals are out of balance, what their functional relationships look like, and what levels of heavy metal toxicity you are dealing with.
To understand the impact of these results, the HTMA must be properly interpreted and assessed by a trained professional. In addition to the nutrient minerals and toxic metals, the HTMA results also need to be interpreted according to your metabolic type, immune strength, ability to digest and eliminate, levels of commitment to make changes and follow nutritional and lifestyle protocols, etc..
Like so many of us, after eating clean and well, and working on digestion and elimination for years, we here at Zenshin Institute have found that some of our deep-seated and now chronic issues, such as skin rashes, irritability, racing mind, musculo-skeletal issues, allergies, and years of low-grade sinus infection, didn’t go away until we addressed one of the major root causes of our symptoms—tissue mineral imbalances. It is a slow, gradual, energy-intensive process that must be taken with great care and kindness towards the body.
Especially on the psycho-emotional front, imbalanced mineral relationships can show up as a “wired and tired” pattern. One client recently expressed her years of overdrive and exhaustion this way, after learning that she suffers from excess copper toxicity: “This makes me understand somewhat why I am going so hard. My mind never stops!” Years spent in psychotherapy could not change this deep physiological pattern, but strengthening the body with the right nutrients has helped tip the balance back to health.
There are no "quick fixes" when it comes to detoxing metals, balancing nutrients, and restoring optimal health. It takes months, if not years. This means it also requires patience, endurance, and commitment.
When our clients find out our long-term Zenshin approach to health and healing, many of them are relieved to know that they are not going crazy or doomed to be “sick forever” (which I used to think) and that they can start to work on eliminating these toxins and finally restoring body-mind-spirit-balance.
At Zenshin Institute, we offer two services that include HTMA testing:
